Inside the CrossYaas Closet: Our Current Favorites from Old Navy

In this week’s Kirsten’s Corner (episode 54), Kirsten talks all about one of her favorite stores: Old Navy. And what’s not to love? Especially in their online store, Old Navy offers a wide range of clothing, including in tall and plus sizes, that work very well for women and crossdressers of many shapes and sizes. Plus, their sizing tends to be pretty consistent, and any clothing purchased online can be returned in-store. Today, we’re opening up the CrossYaas closet to highlight a few affordable favorites from Old Navy.

Kirsten’s Pick: Distressed Raw-Hem Boyfriend Jean Jacket ($32)

This denim jacket is Kirsten’s current Old Navy favorite because it’s very cute, comfortable to wear, and extremely versatile. Look no further for the ultimate jacket for layering in the fall and winter — this jacket can complement so many different looks and outfits. You can use it to dress up a super-casual combination of a t-shirt and shorts or perfectly accent a matching dress or your favorite jumpsuit or romper. One word of caution: this jacket is designed to fit generously, so consider ordering a size down from your usual size if you want a jacket that is more form-fitting. The roomy fit, particularly around the shoulders, does make this jacket a particularly suitable choice for crossdressers or anyone with broader shoulders.

Giselle’s Pick: Variety 10-Pack of Triple Layer Cloth Face Masks for Adults ($25)

The first step toward being the best #COVIDcutie you can be is to make sure that you’re wearing a mask while you’re out in public — because being safe and healthy is always the best look. But why stop at wearing just any mask? Old Navy offers ten different variety packs of comfortable face masks, each of which contains ten masks with fun and interesting fabric prints. Giselle’s favorite is the “Blue Paisley” pack as it contains a variety of red tones and blue tones that are sure to match most outfits, though if you plan on rocking an animal print dress when going to pick up your favorite takeout food, Old Navy sells a matching pack of animal print masks as well.

Sierra’s Pick: Striped Linen-Blend Cami Jumpsuit ($36)

Above: Sierra relaxing and wearing this cute Old Navy jumpsuit. Yaas!

This jumpsuit is one of Sierra’s favorites because it checks all the boxes: super cute, check. Comfortable and well-made with quality linen-like fabric, check. And pockets? Yaas girl, get it! Sure, when Sierra picked this off the rack at Old Navy recently, her partner turned to her and said “you’re sooo basic!” — but basic can be cute and this jumpsuit is no exception. This jumpsuit is versatile and works well across seasons here in Southern California — you could grab your favorite wide-brimmed hat and head straight for the beach on a hot summer day, or pair it with Kirsten’s favorite jean jacket for an effortless look in the spring or early fall. It has quickly become one of Sierra’s favorite outfits for poolside relaxation.

Introducing Sierra, Showrunner and Contributor

Hi everyone! This is Sierra, the new CrossYaas Podcast showrunner, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share how excited I am to now be contributing a short segment to the podcast every week. Like Giselle, I’m 32 years old and from Southern California, and professionally I’m an academic and a tech consulting entrepreneur. My involvement with the podcast began pretty recently when I, at that time just a listener who found the podcast to be extremely helpful in figuring out my own gender identity, got in touch with Giselle and asked about how I could help. Since then, I’ve been lucky to become involved in the production and growth of this podcast, which I truly believe is the best resource for anybody interested in developing a deeper understanding of crossdressing and related forms of gender expression.

If you also find the podcast to be valuable in understanding your own feelings about crossdressing or gender expression, please join us on Patreon!

In addition to my role as showrunner, I am also contributing a new weekly segment entitled “Sierra Says”, for which I will be sharing my thoughts about a topic normally related to gender expression/identity, crossdressing, or sexuality. If you have any thoughts about anything I share or say in this segment, we would love to hear from you — you can find us (crossyaaspodcast) or me (sierra_maravilla) on Instagram. Thanks for listening!
